Several things can be done to improve the speed and performance of your PC. Initially stopping certain programs that may be
running in the background for instance can significantly increase performance. Windows users also have tools such as Defragmentation which reduces the clutter
of your hard drive, making it easier to locate and load files. A very common solution is to increase the amount of RAM (Random Access Memory) installed in your
system. There are five different types of RAM most commonly used: SDRAM, RDRAM, DDR RAM, DDR2 RAM, and DDR3 RAM.

Various worms and viruses can come from anywhere on the internet, but the biggest
targets are usually e-mail, and just going to the wrong sites and clicking the wrong links. Other times, viruses are obtained through security holes in your
operating system or through security holes in third party software

Unless you are deleting a program folder from a utility you use often, you are
generally safe in removing any programs you're sure you do not need or use. The general rule of thumb is if you don't recognize the program or
haven't used it in over 6 months, you probably don't need it. Of course, feel free to ask us if you have any questions. The Windows Add/Remove
program feature in Control Panel can give you information on the amount of use you get out of a program, including the last date used.

While
the competition may take 3 days, or even over a week to show up, we generally schedule our appointments on the same day (or the next day) of your call. In
emergency situations, we will arrive on-site within hours of your call!

In-house work generally is completed within 1-3 business days. Call around and you will find that our competition often takes
more than a week.

It is nearly
impossible to estimate how long an on-site appointment will take, given the various circumstances, unique problems, and different environments encountered.
Factors such as the seriousness of the problem, the speed of your computers, and many other considerations affect how long the appointment will take. Three
quarters of our appointments are less than 2.5 hours in duration, but we do not promise to be 'in and out' within a definite period of time for the
reasons mentioned above.

Unlike the cable or
telephone company that tells you they will be out "some time between 9 and 5", we schedule our appointments with an arrival time which spans a one hour
range. This is because oftentimes our technicians are coming to your appointment from another job, which may have ran longer than expected.

If your battery backup alarm is sounding, this means you may have a voltage problem (electrical noise), or a power outage. If you do not have a power outage, then the battery backup is beeping for one of the following reasons:
1. Battery backup is overloaded, or
2. Battery needs to be replaced (if it is more than 3 years old)
What to do:
1. Call the manufacturer of the battery backup to see if it is under warranty
2. Perform a self-test using the battery backup software on your computer
The best way to test a battery backup is to see if your computer remains on when the power goes out (or when it is unplugged from the wall).
