Resolving Host Name Queries Over a VPN Tunnel
Sunday December 27, 2009

Once a client connects to a VPN tunnel or a hardware VPN device with a software VPN client, often one of the issues that occurs is that they cannot access a server or PC at the remote site by simply using the hostname.

DNS can handle the name resolution for the remote PC or server, but one must use the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).

So, for example, if one wanted to connect to a PC named \'Station01\', they would have to type in Station01.domain.local in place of Station01.
